It seems that tyhe Bush War on Science has reached the head of NASA. Its head, Michael Griffin, has stated he isn't sure that global warming 'is a problem we must wrestle with'. Given his boss, Bush's, attitude to the subject and the cuts he's put on the earth observation programme I can't say I'm surprised by the pronouncement, but its still an indication of how much the credibility of NASA has fallen. Griffin would do well to listen to his own scientists but these are the same people that Bush is tying to censor.
The Royal Astronomical Society, my own professional body, has fired back with a call by its president for Griffin to withdraw these comments.
