According to ORG, clause 152 of the Coroners and Justice Bill was scrapped last night by Jack Straw.

This was the 'data sharing' provision which would've allowed government ministers to permit sharing of any government data at whim, no matter what purposes that data was obtained for. Your medical records might be shared with the local social work or dog catchers office, for example.

I've seen no independent confirmation that this clause has been scrapped elsewhere, but if this report is correct, and I've no reason to doubt ORG, then this is a major success.
