purplecthulhu at 04:59pm on 30/01/2003As I sit here, towards the end of the work day, I'm looking out on a London that is contracting. Normally I can see all the way to the London Eye, the great ferris wheel on the south bank of the Thames. On a clear day i can see all the way to Canary Warf, where tower blocks have taken root in Docklands. This evening the city has shrunk, and I am lucky if i can see as far as the tower block housing the Guards Regiment at their barracks beside Hyde Park.
For it is snowing again. The brief flurries I walk through on the way in this morning were merely a prelude to the main attraction this afternoon. I can't call this a blizzard, but its a lot more snow than London usually gets. Two significant snow falls in a year - this must be some kind of record.
Not much snow settling on the pavements yet, but if this carries on tonight, then we may be all soft and fluffy again by morning.
And iTunes has come up with some really appropriate music!
