There is good news form the US Senate for once - approval has not been given for oil drilling in the Alaskan Researve.

Nobody in the senate has quite got round to saying it, but the way to reduce the US dependence on foreign oil imports is not to open up new reserves in Alaska and damage a valuable and unique ecosystem, but to reduce US dependence on oil full stop.

Of course the chance of that happening under the current government is not great...

Well, with the Iraqi fields back on tap, there's no need at the moment to start drilling in dificult conditions in Alaska. And remember, there's Iran to come next...

Time to spell-check* and edit this journal entry, I think! Although, I love the dramatic effect that you have achieved:

"Nobody in the senate has quite got round to saying it, but the way to reduce the US dependence on foreign oil imports is not to open up new researches in Alaska and damage a valuable and unique ecosystem, but to ."

That space says it all! :-)
