And their chain of logic could also get them off the hook in Iraq... If no significant quantities of WsMD are found in Iraq then, instead of admitting that this part of their justification for war, like so many others, was spurious, they will claim that the WsMD were all moved to Syria. This would the be justification for moving onto that country.
I'm currently observing at the JCMT:

Its interesting to note that even some of the ex-military people on the staff here are quite sangine about the war, and are quite worried about any extensions to Syria. I've also heard some very negative comments about Rummy from this direction, which is also interesting...
