I, along with [livejournal.com profile] bugshaw and [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger were fascinated to see water going uphill on a TV feature on the Chelsea Flower Show.

The secret is revealed by the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3046791.stm. Unsurprisingly, the device was dreamed up by James Dyson, he of vacuum cleaner fame.

But I'd settle for just the dinosaur :-)

Thanks for the link - checked it to see if my supposition, based on a rather long look afforded by one of the news items of the "head" of the water fall, was correct.

And it was. Yay, me - I usually suck at this puzzle stuff. But the principle is very simple. It would be interesting, if someone did try something that provoked a legal challenge from Dyson...

Crazy(it was still great fun, and good to know his inspiration was Escher!)Soph

The Dyson site at http://www.dyson.co.uk/ has more information: click on the UK flag in the top left corner and there is a link to more info on The Wrong Garden at Chelsea. There's also a link at http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/events/chelsea2003/gardens/show_gardens/wrong_garden.shtml
