About 55 minutes door to door on the way home, but with a fair amount of faff on the new TfL route. Interestingly the route home and the route there are substantially different, with the route home being a fair bit like my old route in going via Old Street. So it looks like the computer didn't lie and these are better routes, albeit a bit more complicated. It'll probably take me some time to get them right, but will probably end up being faster as a result.

Sounds like one of those proverbial cabbies' routes through London. Good luck cutting out the faff and it must be more pleasant to ride through the parks than New Oxford Street. Decades ago, when my Dad lived in London, he had a route for his daily commute/walk from Hammersmith to the Harrods warehouse that hardly had any streets in it at all, just hopped from park to square to park. It was way longer than necessary but a far pleasanter walk by his lights. Guess he always had the makings of a country lad huh?

The new route does quite well with parks and park like bits (which I classify the Mall as). Walking in London is great as there are all sorts of hidden greens and historical allies hidden away from the main roads. Sadly cycling doesn't get you to all of them, and there's often a one way street that messes you up :-)
