Snowing in London again...

Let's see how the transport network copes (at least the Central line is reporting Good Service at the moment).

And no, I'm not cycling in at the moment - too cold and icy even if you don't include today's snow, especially since many of the cycle routes are poorly lit and not properly gritted.

[Is that a greek chorus of Canadians I can hear shouting "Wimp!"?]

Not cycling because of the cold is slightly wimpish. Not cycling because of the ice and the lack of safe surfaces and snow tyres is entirely sensible. If nothing else, most of the people driving cars in this weather have no idea how to deal with snow and ice and it's really quite dangerous to be on the road at the same time as them.

Well a Boulderite whose had ice on parts of his cycle to work for the last 49 days thinks you should work at home, as unlike here, Londoners have no idea how to handle the conditions.

Central line was pretty messed up when I tried to catch it this morning at around 09:10.

Well, they always say that. But I think they ought to let us decide...

You possibly took the more sensible option, it was very slushy north of the river, and hard work on a bike.

When I got to Waterloo at 8.30 this morning, the announcers were warning of severe delays on all Underground lines. It took me till 9.50 to get from there to Blackfriars - longer than it would take to walk! (That wasn't an option for me this morning because I was feeling a bit nauseous and couldn't rely on standing for more than 5 mins, never mind walking. Fortunately, by some miracle there was a seat free on the Northern Line platform.)

The Eastern Europeans at Tiny's nursery are becoming increasingly snarky at the expense of the UK transport infrastructure's (in)ability to cope with winter.
