50 minutes in and a bit less than 45 minutes home. The in time is inflated by spending quite some time discussing the messing about with the Green Park cycle lane with the site manager. They've been giving misleading and contradictory information on the closure of the Constitution Hill cycle lane (not helped by the Royal Parks who've messed up coordination) and cut off a cycle path in such a way as to force cyclists onto the road into oncoming traffic or into pedestrians who've had no warning of bicycles. It all comes from the idea that cycles are an optional form of transport who can be turned into pedestrians at the flick of a sign, and that's just not good enough. It's like telling a car driver on the M1 to get out and push.

Ic the course of this I did find out what the mess in Green Park is all about - a concert to coincide with the end of the Beijing Olympics. So now I have something else to blame London in 2012 for.

Having said all that, the time in this morning was really good.

My time home was good but actually better than it looks as I stopped to guide some unfortunate tourists looking for the Regents Park mosque who'd been sent south rather than north.

To coincide with the end of the Beijing Olympics, or to mark the start of the London Olympiad. The one handing over to the other.

We're trying! But its hard enough to make provision for pedestrians and cars, and squeezing an extra 2m of road width for a bike lane sometimes just doesn't work.

Look at it another way, would you prefer for there to be no bike lanes at all, rather than an occasional last resort of "Cyclists Dismount" (and it is treated as a last resort, or at least we do).
