I'm surprised none of you lot are talking about Hamilton's world championship win. I missed the race myself as I was traveling and only caught the news in Frankfurt airport rather garbled by my inadequate German. For a few moments I thought Massa had got it.

So - any thoughts??????

For a few moments I thought Massa had got it.

You and a few million other people.

I was literally holding my breath at the end. Not that I particularly supported one or the other, but because it was so close.

Felt really sorry for Massa - it's not like he could have done better than 1st, so there really was nothing else he could have done at that point.

Apparently it was the sort of nailbiting finish true sportspeople wish for. The commentator they replayed on the radio was all 'such a great shame Lewis Hamilton lost - oh, wait, he's managed to overtake, he's won the championship.'

I'm not a fan of F1, but I like seeing a variety in results - instead of one person (or rather, machine) winning all the time, you've got a better spread this year.

I'm not sure how to react, yet. Pretty boring race for the most part, tho' I've always liked the look of that circuit. Penultimate lap, I couldn't watch and forced myself back for the final one. John Watson, on the radio this morning, had it right: every race needs added water, since it's rain that tests the pit crew and race strategy and really tests the drivers. (I never rated young Villeneuve as a driver, despite his world title, 'cos at the slightest sign of drizzle he'd be off the circuit.)

Wanted Hamilton to win the championship. But very much also wanted Massa to get both the win and the championship: a bit like Rubens, he's a very good driver who got to play second fiddle to a great driver (and much as I dislike Schumacher, M. I admit he is a great driver) for so long, when, had the great driver not been there, he might have been world champion.

It's not been a season where I've jumped up-and-down in my seat and screamed at the TV.

Yep, that was heart-pounding stuff. Good to see a British F1 world champion after twelve years. Lewis Hamilton was bloody lucky, though. The McLaren team's calls on tyres were right on the margin, arguably at least a lap too late each time. I feel a lot of sympathy for Massa. I hope he gets another chance.

Sounds like he was bloody lucky not to lose it the same way he did last year. Still, luck is valuable and he was very unlucky to lose it last year.

Brazilian crowd revolting.

I've watched it. I'm convinced there will be repercussions for T. Glock slowing down at the last minute, not cool.

I'm so sorry for Massa, he really has the Champion quality as a driver.

What's all this about Hamilton winning? They were hammered by Motherwell ;-)

Loved it. Ace.

I've given up on posting about F1 though.

The right person won in my opinion. I've got tired of Massa whinging all the time this year.

Glad Hamilton managed to win, despite some occasionally dubious stewards rulings.

Didn't post about it because I reckoned (correctly) the news would be sufficiently full of it, and not many people on my flist are F1 fans.

Oddly, there's next to no news on it in Italy or German, which is where I've been since before the race... Hence my request for comments.

That last lap was a real nail-biter. I've got nothing against Massa but I'm thoroughly fed up with the favouritism Ferrari has received this year: I wouldn't have minded if they'd lost the constructors' championship as well. And Hamilton is something special: with more experience with car - especially tire - and race management he'll be a megastar.
