Those of you at T's birthday bash last night (and maybe some others) may be interested to hear more of the Princess Louise.
According to:
http://www.pubs.com/pub_details.cfm?ID=226
it is indeed Grade 2* listed and was recently refurbished to return it to its Victorian glory.
It might be interesting to visit the other three pubs that website lists as 'gems':
the Red Lion, The Argyll Arms, the George Inn
The George Inn I know - it's a wonderful 17th century coaching inn just south of London bridge.

(It may sound a little odd, but the Louise also has the most impressive urinals in London. I'm not kidding - full-on Victorian originals; marble and porcelain and wrought iron.)

I was less impressed with the urinals. Maybe this comes form going to a school that had a lot of victorian bits, but I also have the impression that I've seen that design of urinal elsewhere in the fairly recent past. Not sure where though...
