Why ID Cards are a bad Idea - Nth in a series

Informative comments on ID cards from Bruce Schneier filtered via Charlie Stross (multi-Hugo nominee!).

Bottom line - they won't work, and will be an expensive exercise in making you feel safer while possibly making things more dangerous.

So fight terrorism by fighting ID cards.

You need to put emphasis on feel. This is a weak Government, which concentrations on making voters feel right, and uses as much smoke and mirrors as possible to hide the fact that no real improvement has occured.

So, 'making you feel safer' could be a New Labour slogan - to do this, would be a major achievement!
