The 20" cinema display arrived 2 weeks ago, but I couldn't use it since I didn't have appropriate adaptors, so I was waiting breathlessly for the mian system to arrive, and today it did!

My work machine is now a dual 2.5GHz PowerMac G5!

Not had much chance to put it through its paces yet, but it does seem more sprightly than my 550 MHz powerbook. Mind you, it damn well should!

It's very pretty too!

And its called Glaaki...

I hope Iain would have approved... but not of you publicising the machine name!

Its not M$, so of course he would have approved!

The rest of the name is not clear, so it won't be easy to find. And it will be firewalled!

Hey, there!

[livejournal.com profile] purplecthulhu has [livejournal.com profile] handslive's machine for that, eh?

When D3 comes out for the Mac it will... Though i probably shouldn't on a work machine.

HL2 will be more of a problem...

Especially since the bar*ds aren't, as far as i can tell, planning a Mac OS version at all!

You have 2 2.5GHz processors! Run softwindows or virtual pc and see what happens... :-)

Will that cope with serious graphics from 3D games?

And is it available? I thought MS had rather screwed it up...

I very much suspect it actually won't... but it could be fun finding out...

I forget the state of play re: ms emulators these days. they may well be dead.

Gaspodog was a necessity due to somebody else having gaspode already on lj :-)

The depicted felines are quite cuddly, except when spiky. (These seem to be the two states of cat, Schrodinger* had it all wrong with alive and dead, and lord knows they can be both at the same time...)

* I don't know how to get accents on these dratted windows machines.

Ah, my Flooger can be cuddly, boofy and spiky (in 22+ places!) all at the same time.

You can put accents into LJ postings using the standard HTML codes:

http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/entities/latin1.html

So, Schrödinger. But Schroedinger would also do :-)

You're having so much fun with your new toy that you've dropped off the Internet? :-)
