It looks like there may be a sanctuary from the database-state psychosis that seems to be taking over much of the english speaking world...

According to a report in the no2id organisation's newsletter:

According to the Calgary News: '[...]privacy
commissioner, Frank Work, says he would refuse to get [an ID card] should they
become mandatory. "I won't carry one," says Work. "They can come and get me."'


It makes the UK Information Commissioner's strong comments about 'sleepwalking into a surveilance society' seem quite mild in comparisson.

I take it that this chap is privacy commissioner for Canada?

I think he's privacy commissioner for Alberta, but the provinces have a lot of influence in Canada, so its not like a local mayor getting hot under the collar.
