Ugh - jetlag!

But I had a lovely ttrip to see [livejournal.com profile] purplejavatroll even if my observations weren't that successful.

And my laptop seems to have died....

Anyone got any hints for what to do with a TiBook that doesn't even power up?

Hm. My experience with that behavior in my old Ti-book was an internal battery short that both precluded charging *and* drew available power when plugged-in to wall current. Swapping the battery fixed the problem.

Removing the battery and trying to power up makes no difference. I think there is some internal issue possibly with heat, since I did manage a peep out of it earlier, but it was very short-lived.

Do Apple laptops work without the battery installed at all? I've never tried...

Jakob's suggestion of popping along to the Apple Store seems good though. At least they might be able to tell you the problem without costing you an arm and a leg.

Well apparently they do run wiothout battery since I've just managed to get it going as a firewire drive ('target mode') and upload all my data from it. Phew!

I'm going to try to get to the Apple Store this evening and see what they have to say.

In the mean time, an iMac is getting tempting...

A very shiny doorstop?

more seriously, a trip to the Regent St. Apple store troubleshooters?

Drop it from a height? It still won't work, but now you'll know why...

Stick it in the dishwasher, and clean the dust off the circuit board ;-)
