I think it was about 45-50 mins each way today, but must confess to having been a bit unclear on my start and stop times, so I'm not entirely sure. Traffic levels seem to have recovered to about their normal gridlockedness, so the winter skiving off period must be over.
There was something on at Buckingham Palace this morning. The first signs of this were some camera crews and vans dotted around the front entrance, which is a bit unusual, and an enhanced police presence. Then I spotted 3 rather nice royal carriages (they had crests) going down Constitution Hill towards the palace. Then, at Marble Arch, a full troop of horseguards, in full dress, were blocking the road. So something was on, but I don't know what.
I also spotted someone having a one-on-one riding lesson on Rotten Row in Hyde Park. A good way to learn to ride, but it must be hideously expensive!
This evening's sights are a bit of a cheat, as I saw them at the office rather than on my bike... But it is rather spectacular - I saw Comet McNaught this evening!
Once the sun has gone down sufficiently (we saw it around 5pm local time) its quite noticable on the western horizon. We looked for it earlier but I think the sky was just too bright at that point. My boss, who's seen a fair number of comets, thinks it might be the most spectacular he's seen. If the sky is clear tomorrow I'll be looking again!
