From [livejournal.com profile] nhw...

You scored 100% background knowledge, 75% solar system, 100% stars, and 80% galaxies!

That's it! Thanks for taking the test and please take a moment to rate it.

This test samples your knowledge of contemporary topics in astronomy. It is by no means comprehensive. If you did well on it, you're pretty well versed in astronomical knowledge. If you didn't do so well, but would like to know more, your local university may have a course in astronomy just for you!

A complete answer key is available at http://www.livejournal.com/users/wcg/198998.html

Keep looking up!

BillG

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender
:

You scored higher than 1%
on background

You scored higher than 1%
on solar system

You scored higher than 99%
on stars

You scored higher than 99%
on galaxies

Bearing in mind that I am a professional astronomer, or at least try to be, should I regard these results as a success or a failure????

should I regard these results as a success or a failure?

You should regard them as meaning that no one else of your age and gender has done the quiz, yet!

How come Myles lost points on stars, and you lost points on galaxies!!!

We both know too much for our own good...

As is obvious from our results in the Lovecraft knowledge quiz. At least, I'm assuming that Dave will score suitably SAN-drained when he does the test.

I got:

You scored 60% background knowledge, 50% solar system, 66% stars, and 40% galaxies!

Which isn't too bad I think :)

Nope. I was going to do it to see just how higgorant I actually am. But... "gasses" as the plural of "gas"? I couldn't stand the thought of encountering further typos.

I think the test has gone wonky - seriously. Myles has tried retaking it and it is acting very oddly.

I decided to try it after Myles did the 'I bet you'd do better than you'd think' speech. I got two right out of the first ten plus one accurate guess. On that sample I gave up, so your score still beat the pants of the medievalist.

Perhaps the results just mean that you're a specialist!
