Utterly astoundingly beautiful movies of interacting galaxies, galaxy clusters and similar available here:
http://www.galaxydynamics.org/home.html
One of the most fascinating is a simulation of the night sky from Earth during our own galaxy's future collision and merger with the Andromeda galaxy.
I observe galaxy mergers like this, and you see things just like this like snapshots around the sky. But these movies are just astounding in the way you can see the galaxies as dynamic, living system that are changing with time.
I could imagine showing these on a big screen at a convention and just adding a little bit of gloss and context and you'd have a great programme item. And there's a full resolution DVD available too!
Thanks to boingboing for pointing me to it.
