Writing update...

Over the last couple of weeks I've submitted two stories, one of which is a 10000 word 'novella' that I've sent to Analog.

Now to see what happens next!

A 10,000 word story is strictly speaking a novelette according to the Hugo/Nebula rules. I find it interesting that in mainstream writing, this useful term is never used (I suppose it smacks of those digest size women's romance magazine that D.C. Thomson used to (and may still) publish). But then there is hardly any market for mainstream short stories.

'Novelette' always sounds like a feminine sanitary product to me but

pmcray is correct nonetheless.

Have to think of some more shorts now, as I don't think I have enough practice to get started on the novel length ideas I'm working on. Well not some much novel, but 2 book series (at least).
