Back in the saddle after rather too long, thanks to a series of colds, trips, general crapness and a specific problem at work.
50 minutes in, a bit under 50 minutes back. I'm not on my usual bike (as pictured here) because of the problem at work. The good lift I usually use to ship my folding but still large bike up and down the building, where technically bicycles are forbidden unless they are 'compactly folded', is currently being replaced. I thus have to use the normal lifts and my normal bike really wouldn't work well in those circumstances. Luckily I have a spare - a nice compactly foldable Brompton. Before I could use this, though, I needed to sort out lights, which took a while, and wanted to wait for a good cycling day as it's rather different from my main bike.
The day came today, and I am pleased to be able to report that everything worked well, though I did have to put a bit more air in the tyres shortly after I started off. I think I can feel the lack of fitness, but the times weren't bad. The Brompton is also a very different ride and I'm still learning how to get the best out of it.
Christmas fairs are starting up in Hyde Park and elsewhere, and there was an unusually large motorcade getting in the way at Hyde Park Corner. Anyone special in town?
