It was with great sadness that I read on ElReg that Personal Computer World has gone down. This magazine was an ikon of my teens and early adulthood, and I was a regular reader almost from the first issue. I still remember the fabled Issue 1 copy in the school computer room with a Nascom1 on the front cover.
In those days each issue was a glimpse into the computerized future, one that we were part of since we had rather good computing facilities for a school in those days.
PCW's great days are behind it and it's most recently been just another PC rag, but it had a great history behind it, and it will be missed. Have a look at Guy Kewney's Register article linked to above for amore knowledgeable view of the magazine's glory days.
