1: Total number of books I own: My guess would be 500 to 1000, but its difficult to know since we merged 3 separate book collections
2: The last book I bought: Flashman by George MacDonald Fraser.purplejavatroll has been recommending the Flashman books for ages, and now they've been reprinted I'm going to see what they're like.
3: The last book I read: The last one I finished was Century Rain by Al Reynolds, and I'm currently reading Forty Signs of Rain by Kim Stanley Robinson. Hmmm - a bit of a rainy theme here?
4: Five books that mean a lot to me:
Godel Escher Bach by Daniel R Hofstadter - an amazing intellectual ride, and probably the best non-fiction book of the last 50 years.
Neuromancer by William Gibson - I think this book got me back into SF after I started toi drift away in the early 80s.
Schismatrix by Bruce Sterling - but this was the real thing, with content as well as surface sparkle. These last two definitely got me well stuck back into SF.
The Call of Cthulhu the role playing game - best game ever, and what introduced me to the Cthulhu mythos and all that that entails. Bwahahahahahahah!
The last best read - I'm very fickle with books that mean a lot to me, so I'll leave this slot open for the current favourite whi8ch may be gone by next week.
