... but feeling rather dead as a result of very little sleep on the flight back from Montreal and Worldcon.
I might get around to a fuller report later but here are some edited highlights...
My first ever reading at a Worldcon!
Winning Just a Minute!
The Stross-Krugman interview (which I only saw the last 30 minutes of thanks to the Just a Minute game).
Melissa Auf Der Maur's presentation of Out of Our Minds, despite serious technical problems with the video. Her 'girls don't play solo base and sing' set of playing solo base and singing. She seems very fannish if a a bit mad in interesting ways. I hope we see more of her at Worldcons.
The What's New in Astronomy panel where I learnt a load of new stuff and which was standing room only.
The science programme in general going well.
Acting as native guide for someone I met through the RCA who just happened to be visiting her family in Montreal that weekend and who I persuaded to come along for the day (and who volunteered for her forst ever worldcon panel at her first ever worldcon - that panel being The Future of Sex).
Getting to know H and R better.
The local beer, especially as found in the restaurant/bar underneath the convention centre.
It was, in short, a good worldcon. Not perfect, as various organizational problems created difficulties for programming - problems that a committee actually interested in programming should have sorted early on in the process and fixed in various ways (including ditching some senior staffers of limited competence - am trying desperately not to rant here).
Another highlight was the UK/Irish party on Friday night - much kudos to those responsible!
