Wow - what a (long) weekend!

Loads of people I know have now got Hugos! I even got to fondle one or two of them - they're rather nice! Well done to [livejournal.com profile] autopope, [livejournal.com profile] fjm, [livejournal.com profile] chilperic, [livejournal.com profile] bohemiancoast, [livejournal.com profile] frostfox, [livejournal.com profile] drplokta and all the others who are not on LJ, or whose LJs I've forgotten.

The con went very well - much kudos to the organisers and all who worked on it. The science programme, which is what I mainly contibuted to, seemed to go very well. [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger deserves much congratulation for this! The highlight for me was Dave Southwood (head of science at ESA)'s talk on Saturday which ranged from autobiography, Dan Dare, to Titan and Huygens, to Vonneghut and literary criticism. I've known DS for some time, but he's clearly kept some hidden depths! And he and his wife seem to have enjoyed themselves a great deal, and might come to future conventions if invited! Maybe we're about to become respectable!

My own big talk on Thursday went well, as did all the other items I was on. I learned a lot on some of those items as well!

One thing that really impressed me was that this was the first con I've worked on where people came up to me, unprompted, and thanked me for talks and panels, and for helping to get DS to the con. Wow!

About the only thing that could have made it better would be for [livejournal.com profile] purpletigron and [livejournal.com profile] purplejavatroll to have been there.

But now the reaction settles in. Its back to Mundania tomorrow. The way back was eased very pleasently by neeting [livejournal.com profile] the_magician, [livejournal.com profile] greengolux and our antipodean visitor [livejournal.com profile] zarabee who we're trying to seduce to Eastercon next year. But eventually Euston was reached, and it was time to go home.

Work seems very unattractive by comparison.

Normal service to be resumed once my bounce is back.

> we're trying to seduce to Eastercon

I'm told that she might have a membership.

Interesting choice of words.

Could be!

That's chilperic, not childperic, which seems to be some bizarre Frankensteinian creation made up of me and [livejournal.com profile] childeric. Don't blame us for having similar names; blame the Frankish royal family, c. 450 to c. 550...

But it was good to see you in Glasgow!

Fixed now!

At least my mistyping is, not the Frankish royal family...

Good to see you too!
