For those who don't benefit from having their radios permanantly locked to BBC Radio 4, the URL where you can find the BBC's adaptation of His Dark Materials is here.

We heard part 1, The Northern Lights, yesterday, and it was pretty good!

The adaptation was quite good, but it felt a little rushed to fit into the 2.5 hour slot. Pullman should have put his foot down about abridgement like Rowling did, if that was the only way to get a sufficently long broadcast slot.

"Splittas!!!"

(Actually, I think all the tuning dials on our ... urgle, 14 and counting! ... radios are all fused in position. G does sometimes make a small whimpering noise when there is Radio 4 on in every room as we wander around getting ready for work etc. But then, G is an Archers fan, so not a totally lost cause :-)
