Its long been a prediciton that the Gulf Stream will be cut off as a result of global warming, giving western Europe a climate closer to that of Labrador. Now, though, there is evidence that this might actually be happening. Recent results show a 30% reduction in the amount of warm water carried north by the Gulf Stream.

Think London's bad? Aberdeenshire's already had quite a lot of snow, there have been blizzards and hurricane force winds over on the west coast of Scotland where my parents live and the cold weather looks set to continue! Here in London I'm still in my summer clothes.

No I don't think London's bad - I've been in the Edmonton winter where -30 isn't unusual. But England isn't prepared for that kind of weather. Scotland will probably do best if we do get a Labrador winter. The rest of the coutnry will be screwed.
