... because they didn't like to hear about evolution.
And we didn't do anything because we knew they were religious loonies who nobody would take seriously.
Then they came for the climatologists, because they didn't like to hear about global warming and how the oil industry was responsible.
But we didn't do anything because the president said technology would make it go away, and the oil barrons had more money for campaign donations and PR blitzes.

So now cosmology is at the front line of the religiousn war on science.
This will end, eventually, since, to quote Feynamn "reality must take precedence over public relations; for Nature can not be fooled.”
But how much damage will be done before it ends, and what state will we be left in when it does?
