It also has to be said that you would expect people in the biological sciences to be a lot more wary - the churches are on the whole more likely nowadays to be against biological theories and research areas (stem cell research, for instance) than against anything in theoretical physics or chemistry. Dawkins, in particular, is a feminist and a supporter of gay rights... which probably makes him even more wary.
