Just wait until the biometric ones come in... You'll probably need to fly to Ottawa to get one then, or London, and the price will be greatly increased!

Are passports still good for 10 years? The consular section of the British High Commission in Ottawa doesn't seem to have it on their website, and I'd heard rumours that the 10 years was changing to 5.

I believe they're still good for 10 years.

The possible shift to 5 years is that the data chips for the new biometric passports are only guaranteed for that length of time. They'd also be more expensive, more than doubling the cost of keeping a passport.

Good. My last one expires in March of next year (2005), so I need to off my but and renew. Before the biometrics come into play!
